The Arts Society Ebor – Welcome!

We are a Society designed for those interested in decorative and fine arts, and those wishing to further their knowledge, and explore the creation of art works, and the contexts in which they were commissioned and received. Our Society is a member of The Arts Society, a national leading arts charity, which opens up the world of art through a network of local societies.

Our lectures take place at The Shepherd Hall, at St Olave’s, part of St Peter’s School, usually on the second Wednesday of the month. We meet at 6pm for a 6.30pm start. Refreshments are available.

Our lecture programme can be seen on our website by clicking here

In addition to the monthly lectures we run a series of outings and trips, some of which are specifically designed to complement the lecture programme. We have recently had trips to Edinburgh, and to Birdsall House, and also to New Earswick to explore the Arts and Crafts architectural style. A three day trip was undertaken to explore ‘Hidden Cambridge’.

The past years have seen trips overseas – to the French and Belgian Battlefields, to study memorial styles, to Tuscany, Sicily, India and to the Veneto. For 2019-20 we have trips planned  to Romania, and to Cumbria and the Scottish Borders.

We aim to provide a diverse programme of topics, events and study days to appeal to members; we also offer post lecture suppers, and a Christmas event.
