The Arts Society Ebor – Welcome!

We are members of The Arts Society, which opens up the arts through a national network of local societies.

Each month, usually on the second Wednesday, we offer a lecture by an expert in their field. We meet in The Merchant Taylors' Hall, Aldwark, York, at 6pm for a 6.30pm start. We serve wine and soft drinks from 6.10pm. Our current lecture programme can be seen here.

We also run outings, trips and study days, some of which specifically complement the lecture programme. We visit galleries, country houses, craft workshops and museums. Trips abroad have included India, Sicily, The Veneto and Romania, and an Art Nouveau and Art Deco trip to Lille and Antwerp took place in Spring 2023. We ran a trip to Dublin in April 2025 and a trip to Uzbekistan in September 2025. A small group visited Malaga in March 2026.                                 

Although we have programme breaks in August and December, each year we may organise a summer party and a Christmas event.

Subscriptions for 2026/27 are now due - £58 for individuals or £110 for joint membership where two people share the same address. This covers all lectures until the end of March 2027. Guests are welcome to come to two lectures a year for £10 each. Students pay £5 per lecture. 

Other Member benefits include a copy of The Arts Society Review magazine (3 times per year) and opportunities to join in a range of national and regional lectures and study days.
